My Girl Child Isn't Safe in This Country: Plight of Father

One of my friends was chatting on whatsapp with his wife. His wife forwarded him a link which was of an article circulated by times of India. The article was about a girl child who was raped few days back and now she has returned back from ICU. Well after reading the article my friend was distressed, he asked his wife not to send such articles as it makes him realise that this country is not benign for young girls, and it is perilous to have a girl child who may get rapped at very young age which will lead to damage to her organs making her life hell.

None of the parents in this world can dream about their girl child like this. It is a perturbing fact that our society is becoming unsafe for girl child. You may call Delhi as rape capital and you are right but in our nation hardly any place is left which is safe for girl child.

His reaction made me to think, converse and research on this issue. I made a small study which enlightened the real picture of the atrocious crimes such as rape in our country.

I had gone through the Shafi Alam, IPS and Director General of National Crime Records Bureau’s report which was published in the first week of June 2013.

The above graph shows that there is proliferation in rape cases in the country from 2008 to 2011. Adding more facts to the above graph: In the year 2002, 16373 cases of rape had been registered which is comparatively way lesser than the year 2011. Somebody can contend on this by saying that the population of this country is also increasing every year so why not crime rate. I would just say; buddy the increased number of crime such as rape has nothing to do with the increased populace. It only implies the botch of system of this republic. We are not able to provide security to our own women.

Let us dig more deep through the following facts.

1. You must be thinking that NCR is the rape capital, but it isn’t true. The rape capital in this country is Madhya Pradesh where in the year 2012, 3425 rape cases were filed. In which 176 cases were from Indore.

2. In the year 2012, NCR had seen 706 rape cases which are way lesser than Madhya Pradesh. It only means that the Madhya Pradesh Police needs to be more meticulous in their dealings.

3. Only in city Delhi, there were 585 cases of rape in the year 2012. It is high in terms of city and I am wondering that Police of Delhi claims to be efficient but where is there productivity in the rape cases? Solving is not everything; the real victory of judiciary system will be when rape can be vetoed.

4. In the year 2012, total numbers of rape cases filed in the country were 38143.

5. Positive thing is that none of the cases were withdrawn by the government. This shows the seriousness of the officials to give justice.

6. Surprisingly, 1833 cases were counterfeit which has not gone unnoticed by judiciary system. Measures have been taken by Indian Judiciary system that no one should get convicted under false cases.

7. Sad thing is that our judiciary system is not fast enough. From the year 2012, 13695 cases are still pending.

8. The rate of charge sheet is 100 % implying the change of attitude of the local police and taking such cases seriously. Unlike, Phoolan Devi, where she was raped by Police officials only. Sad, isn’t it?

9. Now, the question is not about 2012, the question is how many cases are under trial all over the country? The answer is 1.01 Lakhs of cases are under trial, among which 86040 cases are under the status of pending. That is shocking stats which is not showing the progress.

The above pie chart shows that how safe our child is! Most of the rape crimes are unswerving against the girl who is in the age group of 14 to 18 Years of age. It is surprising that, if we sum up, than most of the rape crimes the victim are girls of an age less than 18 years old. Adults are comparatively safer in this country.

Couple of days back, an IAS serving in Bangalore, got arrested on the charges of Child Porn. If the bureaucrats will be indulged in such crimes then we can’t imagine the safety of our children. The educated and uneducated both are indulged in this crime. Girls at a younger age are easy targets for people having bad intentions. These days even parents are taking all the precautions to safeguard their child.

In ancient times, Spartans used to respect their women because they are the one who used to give birth to the child who becomes a Spartan and defend the country from foreign enemies. We need that Spartan culture in our country too. Women are an asset, she not only manages your family but she is the one who supports the family in the bad times. God has made male and female so that our species can survive. But if we start raping girl child and destroying their life, then as a nation we don’t deserve to have a future.

Let us become Spartans and pay due respect to the women who is a child, lover, wife or mother of someone. Let us protect our future by protecting our women.

The Battle of Longewala

After drifting for approximately thousand kilometers from Alwar, I have reached Longewala. This place romanticizes me allot. The battle of Longewala a legend in itself. It is located at 120 kms from city of Jaisalmer. Only way to reach this place is boulevard and if you are tourist then you have to hire a cab. Longewala is prevalent because of the illustrious skirmish tussled between India and Pakistan in 1971. The clash of Longewala is all about how hundred odd men clogged and overwhelmed approximately 2000 Pakistani legionnaires. This battle was all about the audacity, impetus, chauvinism and drive to prizefight exhibited by those eighty Indian warriors. This scuffle is one of my favorite scuffles, and whenever I come to this place, my mind start envisaging how horde of men repudiated the destiny. During the Indo-Pak war of 1971, A-Coy of 23 Punjab had taken up the defences at Longewala. The A-Coy company commander was Major Kuldeep Singh Chandpuri later on emer...
