CWG scam: CBI raids premises of Kalmadi aides Bhanot, Verma

The CBI on Tuesday filed a case against OC Secretary General Lalit Bhanot and Director General V K Verma in connection with alleged irregularities in a contract for the CWG result update system after conducting searches at 11 places including their residences. Officials said the searches started early on Tuesday morning with regard to a Rs 107 crore deal struck with a firm for results update system for the Commonwealth Games. They said this is the third FIR in connection with alleged irregularities in CWG projects. The searches were carried out in Gurgaon, Noida and the national capital. The CBI has already registered two FIRs in connection with alleged irregularities in CWG projects and has arrested some former Games officials. This is the first time when premises of both Bhanot and Verma, both considered very close to OC chief Suresh Kalmadi, were searched. KUMAR SANGAKARA DEFEATED SACHIN TENDULKAR

ICC Test rankings: Sangakkara replaces Tendulkar at number one   Sachin Tendulkar has been dethroned from the top spot by Sri Lankan skipper Kumar Sangakkara in the batting chart but Indian pacer Zaheer Khan climbed to a career-high third in the bowling list of the ICC Test rankings issued on Monday. Sangakkara regained the top spot from Tendulkar after the Sri Lankan scored an impressive 150 against the West Indies in his side's drawn Test at R Premadasa stadium in  Colombo . Joining Sangakkara in the top 10 are  South Africa 's AB de Villiers, the current ICC ODI Player of the Year, and  England 's Jonathan Trott, both players entering the bracket for the first time.
