When earthquake came in Gujarat almost a decade back, I was
in Agra in cosiness of my parents. When earthquake hit Nepal recently, I was
enjoying the fun of mountaineering and Ice climbing. I have never experienced
an earthquake, and I wish I will never experience it again. But I think my life
is diminutive and god wants me to experience every good and bad thing.
Ten minutes back, earthquake hit my place and I was lying on
bed. Suddenly, my bed started vibrating as if someone is making love on it. Obviously,
I was alone and not making any form of love and I felt may be it is my illusion.
My room attendant came and informed me that earthquake has hit the place; I rushed
outside and felt the light vibration of earth. The waves in the stagnant water
on earth were telling us that it is still on.
As the seconds passed the vibration reduced and after
sometime completely disappeared. Still, fear in our mind made us to wait for
few more minutes outside our building as no one was in a mood to take risk.
When I switched on news channel then I realized it was not
of low intensity, the Richter scale was 7.7. It is not low intensity and its
centre was in Hindukush, Afghanistan. May be I was lucky enough that no damage
is done in my country and my men and I are safe.
It was a different kind of experience which people all over
the world has experienced of low scale and of high intensity too. I just pray
to god, it was my last as I am very happy with this single experience.
