In the clash of titans or I should say
world champions of cricket. India thrashed England in a contest which
completely looked one sided. England team looked overconfident and without any
back up plan. India batted first in the T20 contest and England was able to
take the wicket of new opener Irfan Pathan. But it was not a point where they
should have felt that they have gained commanding position. England’s bowlers
were humiliated all over the ground by Indian batsman. Rohit Sharma was the
performer of the day in the batting department for Indian team. On the other
side, no one is really interested to find out who performed well in the English
bowling side.
People were expecting a close contest
between these two team, but a motivated side led by captain Dhoni was all set
to change things on the ground. Quick bowlers of Indian team easily wrapped up
the English team to 39 for 2. But this was not the end of the English disaster,
introduction of Harbhajan and Piyush Chawla changed the entire game. Within
next eight overs, England reached 60 for 9. England ended up their innings at
80 runs and registered biggest defeat in international T20 match. Indian on the
contrary, registered biggest win ever in T20.
Both of team has qualified for the next
round and it will be interesting to see that which team will gain confidence
and carry their form or improve their form.
