Review
Previous versions of Sony's audio and voice recorders were helpful in recording voice and sounds. In previous version of Sony's recorder I experienced that when sounds and voices are recorded in flash or memory card than it can be transliterate it by using word processor software. But in new version of Sony ICD SX712D, latest features has made process of transliterate simpler compared to old models of voice recorders.
It has a feature of voice to print which converts recorded voice into text format. This removes the requirement to listen recorded voice to transliterate on paper. Printed copy of output text was easily transferred to my computer through USB port.
Sony ICD SX712D digital flash recorder has the ability to record any kind of sound in multi-MP3 format or linear PCM formats. I wanted an uncompressed and high quality sound file and Sony ICD SX712D produced it for me. There is a feature to select the bitrate of recorded voice and sound which ranges from 8 to 320 Kbps. I am addicted to 320 Kbps bitrate and 125 Kbps bitrate and Sony's new digital flash recorder converted a single voice file into 320 Kbps and 125 Kbps bitrate.
This digital flash recorder is designed for students and transcribers or transliterates. It has the ability to record sounds of high quality from any direction possible. It record high quality sound by using Omni-directional microphone. As I am student I need to record lectures of my professors, group discussions and debates, and Sony ICD-SX712D allow me to record these important things in high quality. Its recorder is very sensitive and it records voice from distance as well.
It comes with an inbuilt 2 GB flash memory card. 2 GB flash memory is perfect for a person like me who has to record lectures and debates on a regular basis. This also allows me to save my lectures of up to five hundred hours. Its memory is extendable up to 16 GB and a 16 GB micro SD card allows you to save recording of four thousand hours. Due to limited battery life there is no use of storage size of any digital recorder. But Sony ICD-SX712D digital flash voice recorder has two batteries that can survive up to twenty five hours. It has also features such as playback recording and focused recording. You can also select the scene and place track marks on voice pattern. This helped me to easily choose a part of recording during my playback session in music class. I had a requirement to increase speed of playback and Sony's new digital flash recorder didn't disappoint me. It can speed up to two times faster and keeps same pitch.
Other than these feature it has a backlit liquid crystal display of six line display. It also cut the noise and enhances quality of recording. It comes with an external headphone and there is an internal microphone which makes it less bulky. It is compatible with windows and Mac operating system. Compatibility with Mac made it my first choice because I am fond of Mac and most of the youngsters are using Mac these days.
