Defence Minister Shri AK Antony has said that NCC plays a significant role in grooming the leaders of tomorrow. Addressing cadets at the Defence Minister’s investiture ceremony here today, he said that, “the NCC is a unique organisation of the youth. Over the years, it has made a significant contribution to the overall progress of the society and our nation”. “The NCC also channelizes the dynamism and energy of the youth through constructive activities such as adventure and sports activities”, he added.
Earlier, Shri Antony presented the Raksha Mantri’s Medal to Cadet Rajesh Singh Parihar for his exemplary role in rescuing the victims of the tragic train accident in Madhya Pradesh. Cadet Yeshi Wangmo of Jammu & Kashmir Directorate was awarded with the Raksha Mantri’s Commendation Card. She was instrumental in forming a team of NCC cadets and tirelessly worked to bring succour to the victims during the cloud burst tragedy in Leh last year. Capt Dilip Kumar Singh, an Associate NCC Officer was awarded the Raksha Mantri’s Commendation Card for his exemplary role in rescue and relief operation during a gruesome road accident in Uttar Pradesh. Cadet Uttam Choudhary was also awarded the Raksha Mantri’s Commendation Card for his exemplary voluntary service after the Gyaneshwari Train accident.
